We have been testing this trail camera for over 12 months helping the manufacturer make improvements. We now think it’s ready for the public with some great features over other trail cameras.

    INTRODUCING THE MOLNUS CLOUD APP
The biggest stand out feature of this camera is its cloud app. Basically, you sign up for free using your email and link one or more cameras to the app. Then photos are synced with the app from the camera. It’s much better and cheaper than sending via MMS. Unlike others we have tested with similar apps this one works well on both Android and IOS. You can access your photos on the app or website, which is great. It allows you to add multiple cameras, so they have their own folders; which makes managing photos much easier. You can save photos from the app directly to your phone and share access to your camera with other people; you can even change your camera’s settings using the app. When a photo is uploaded to the app you will get a notification on your phone, which is handy. Though you can still use MMS or Email if you prefer, but we think the cloud app is certainly the way of the future.

WHY WE DON’T RECOMMEND USING MMS ON ANY CAMERA?
We have been testing wireless cameras for a long time, and the most common problems in regards to sending and receiving photos are almost always related to the SIM card. We have experienced many issues with providers such as Telstra and Optus when using MMS as the primary mode of sending. These issues have occurred on all cameras we have tested. Not only can it become very expensive depending on your plan but it is very messy to manage your photos when using MMS. Issues can arise when your camera sends many dozens or even over a 100 MMS’s a day, your provider will eventually, if not straight away pick this up as unusual activity or spam; and either put a temporary block on your card or disable it altogether. I suspect that some providers can even detect your cameras IMEI code and block your device. This could mean no matter what SIM you use it won’t work. I have not confirmed this 100% yet, but when we have had SIM’s temporary blocked for sending to many MMS’s, no SIMs would work until the block was lifted. So we highly recommend people use the cloud app solution or email as their sending option, you might get away with MMS if your camera doesn’t send to many photos, though.

    EASE OF USE
This camera is very easy to use, and the menus are straight forward. Setting up MMS is as simple as putting the SIM card in and entering your phone number. Linking to the app is easy as well; all you need to do is download the app by searching for Molnus in the app store. Then create your account and follow the prompts to link your camera up. We will do videos on how to do this on Uhunt as well.
    WHAT SIM CARD TO USE?
Use your own SIM or use the one we supply; it’s up to you. We provide a pre-activated Telstra SIM card with one month free. If you choose to keep using our sim card you will need to buy a plan that starts from $13.95 a month, which you can cancel anytime. We supply our SIM cards for convenience, and also if you have any problems we have admin access to the SIM cards to ensure that the card is not the problem. This saves you getting stuffed around by Telstra directly. However, you are still free to use your own SIM anytime you wish.
