May - Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog

I run a team of Stumpy Tail Cattle Dogs. Though they may not be for everyone, they suit what I am after and work well for the country I hunt. May is one of my main dogs and has caught me many pigs over the years. She has also shown the other dogs the ropes along the way. She is getting a bit older now, so I have some other young dogs coming up as well. They are going well and should be finding soon. May is about 7 now, I started her at about 5 months old, she was a slow starter and took a little while to pick things up. I put the numbers and effort into her and she started finding with other dogs by the time she was 9 months old.

Once she had the hang of this she was doing solo finds by 12 months old. As with all my other dogs, May is very hard on the backend and will often pull pigs up by nipping them to turn them around and then she will bail. This is ideal for the areas I hunt as I usually hunt thick country. She has always been a consistent reliable dog ever since she started doing solo finds. She soon stepped it up and is my main dog now. If she is working the back she will normally just float off without any noise so she needs to be watched. She will get edgy and move around when she is keen just before she jumps. She's great around the house and has a very protective personality. She is especially protective of the family.
