While it is obvious that a dog helps you find deer by smelling them, the knowledge required to maximise a pointing dogs hunting ability is more complicated than that.
In this video I explain my thoughts on scent pointing, sight pointing and finding sambar deer when stalking in the Australian bush.
Pointing dog genetics coupled with a pointer specific training plan are key to my success.
I hope this video give some insight into what I believe makes a good deer dog.
